I'm pretty sure it can transmit instructions to any smart device since it was sending BT file transfer instructions to my Mac. I had no idea what it was, so he took it apart and found it was a hidden cameral/microphone. He found that the wiring to that outlet had been diverted from the wall socket to power the ELK device. But I forgot about it because I do that a lot.īut that useless living room outlet was inconveniencing me, so I finally had an electrician come to fix it. The information was scanty and weirdly put together and unsettling. Then I found a mention about security devices. Two years ago it was very hard to find any info on ELK-BLEDOM, but I was able to trace it to a European lighting company with a spinoff division for IOT devices. But I was seeing the Mac's BT file transfer utility being invoked routinely and I never use it, so I did some digging. Apple support told me it was harmless and simply appearing like nearby wifi networks appear on a network list. It was around the same time I first noticed ELK-BLEDOM on my iMac. I live in a condo in a multiunit building, and about 2 years ago, an electric al outlet in my living room went dead for no apparent reason. If your seeing ELK-BLEDOM on your phone or any screen while you're in your car, then the device is probably under the hood attached to the battery or some other site that allows it to access a power supply, It needs a power source.
